Butter has one of the cutest little noses I’ve ever seen on a cat. Her little spots just make me want to boob them (which I would never do so no hate mail). These photos of Butter are my way of cheering me up because I am not only exhausted but I have an ear infection after just getting over a cold. Real talk, I’ve had a really draining week. I’ve been having really weird waves of depression hit which I think are being caused by my body feeling not so great and lack of sleep. But it’s kind of hit me from left field and I’ve been spending way too much time listening to Drake thinking about really weird times in my life at 3am when I should be sleep. Lol. Working till midnight never ends well as I need to distress a lot after work or I can’t sleep. Hoping on the weekend I can cheer myself up and start out next week with a fresh start. I don’t take any medication for my depression and instead just try and go with the flow. Even though I’ve battled with it for 15 years I never seem equipped to make it go away on its own. After it’s over or on during the day when my head is clearer I feel like I’ve lost so much time. I’m just excited my schedule next week is mostly day shifts and I have a long weekend next week. Really hope you’re feeling great and don’t have to work this weekend. Be prepared because I have two new posts I’ll be doing in April that I’m really excited for.
We are getting to the 2nd last Butter of the Week, man I will miss it when it’s gone. I don’t know about you but I love looking at Butter’s majestic fluff. She is just too adorable not to take insane amount of photos of (no just me? okay…). I am very excited to have Friday’s be dedicated to weekly photos instead though. It’ll be a great way to keep up with taking daily photos without having the pressure of a 365 Challenge. This week I’ve actually taken a brief break from taking any photos because I’ve been sick for the 5th time this winter and just feel exhausted and in need relaxation. You’ll notice I didn’t post on Wednesday and that’s because I just needed one day off as I’ve spent every day this week lying in bed feeling awful or at work feeling awful. Besides being sick not much has happened except I’ve read all my Fables comics and am dying to get the next two deluxe editions in the mail so I can continue reading the series. I am willing to admit I am obsessed with the comic to the point I don’t know what I’ll do when I run out of deluxe editions to buy (they go up to comic 70 however the series has a lot more comics that haven’t been bundled in this hardcover deluxe editions – even worse after I get the two I just ordered I only have 1 left). So if you know a great online site for reading comic let me know! I am hoping that I manage to get lots of work done to make up for the last week of slacking and maybe even paint a part of the house if I’m feeling up to it this weekend. Hope you have a great weekend and enjoying the first weekend of Spring!
Awwww Butter is extra cuddly looking in today’s post and she’s actually been super cuddly all week. She keeps sleeping at my feet or on my chest any chance she can get. These however were taken a few weeks ago when Victor decided to be naughty and call in sick for work even though he was fine. I think sometimes he gets jealous that I get week days off from work. I also work in a call center and work batshit hours and have a schedule that varies on a day to day basis so getting a weekday off is not glamorous at all to me but I understand for 9-5 Monday to Friday guy like him it seems that way. It was really nice though staying home with him and Butter and the cuddles. This current week has been a little bit off for me. Not to mention I am writing this while recovering from a hangover. Wednesday night is not really a night I should be doing tequila shots with people from work but I did and now I must pay the price. Lol, not to mention I feel old because I don’t remember getting hangovers from a few shots. At least it got rid of a lot of stress I was getting from work and hopefully I can focus on a few photography projects this weekend. As well I hope to go skating *cross fingers* and finally sort through all the mail I’ve gotten this week. I’ve had literally 10 parcels arrive this week alone. I’ve been on Etsy too much lately. I had My Little Ponies come in the mail, chocolate molds, a vintage camera (that’s broken and I am super sad it doesn’t work) and other random things. I feel like I should start documenting my growing collection of vintage crap, but in the meantime more of Butter being adorable.
Butter spends at least a good few hours on our coffee table a day (when it’s clean enough) just enjoying the sun coming from our front window. She’s been so cute this month I have far too many photos of her to share. I’m actually thinking about ending Butter’s of the Week starting in April because I have another post idea I want to do and probably shouldn’t be a crazy cat lady and have one day’s post complete dedicated to her furriness. I don’t really think of myself as a crazy cat lady but don’t look through my photography folders… those tell a different story. Not much to tell you about this week, I’ve been really stressed about my work and bills and just random things so I’ve been not sleeping very well and just in general being really down. What do you do when you feel like that? I’m terrible at stress and just melt down a little on my own and don’t sleep. Eventually I get outta my funk. I have plans this weekend for All-You-Can-Eat Sushi and skating so I think it’ll be a good one. We also bought a slow cooker and are really excited to try it out, let me know if you have any great recipes. Have a great weekend!
Hope you are have an amazing Valentine’s Day and celebrate yourself to the fullest. I am not a big Valentine’s Day person, its one of those silly holidays that doesn’t really mean anything. Before I meet Victor I always did nothing or hung out with friends and bought myself a little present and it was just another day for me. So don’t worry about having plans, just make sure you celebrate yourself. Even having Victor around we don’t really celebrate it because we aren’t into it, I do buy him a card and we exchange $10 presents but that’s usually the extent of our Valentines. I do have a gift for you though, it’s Butter being adorable in her heart tie.
Butter was watching the snow plow go down the street in front of our apartment. They are really loud so she always runs to the window when she’s hear them coming to see what the fuss is all about. It’s still snowing here but the temperature hasn’t been so bad, and amazingly enough it’s starting to still be light at 5pm!!!! January was really starting to wear on me, it gets dark here in the middle of winter at 3pm every day. The sun is almost set by 5pm which is still pretty bad when I spend all day at the call center but much much better otherwise. I am crossing my fingers there is no snow storm / -30 weather this weekend because I’m going to be in Toronto for 3 days! Last year we went during the worst blizzard they had all year, and the year before that it was the same – blizzard. We even got stuck on the bus on the journey there for 4 extra hours because the highway closed down…it was not fun. I am almost unable to contain my excitement for this trip though. Great food, a hotel to chill in, great friends to go out drinking and partying with, and an excuse to take a million photos what more could I need. I’ve already packed since I am working till midnight tonight and have to wake up at 6am tomorrow to go to the train station. It’s the first time we’ve taken the train and I am so ready to just have a mellow trip not on a crowded and loud bus. Have you been on trains much? I’ve been almost across all of Canada on trains and I really enjoy them.
I am so shocked it’s almost the end of January. It’s been a really great month for me so far in terms of being organized and getting all the things I needed done. I am so excited about upcoming projects on the blog. I have so many recipe ideas, DIYs and features that I’ve been planning all this week. I actually made three recipes yesterday, my custom Valentine’s Day recipe called Strawberry Three Way (I love puns for recipe names), chocolate truffles and cinnamon buns. Also I think the reason this month has went so quickly is because at the end of last week I bought train tickets to Toronto and now I am just so excited about going that I want it to happen now, not in 2 weeks. :) My friend Derek and me have a tradition where I visit him every year for his birthday, this is the first time I’ve taken the train there. Normally I’m not as excited but it’s been forever since I’ve seen him and taking the train on top of staying at a hotel I am just bubbling with it now. I get very stir crazy when I stay in the same city for too long, I need at least 4 trips outta town a year (I also need to learn to drive so getting outta the city wouldn’t be so hard). The end of January cannot come soon enough for me but there is just 1 more week. You know what I haven’t done this month, change my hair color! Mmmm ideas for next week. Hope you are having an amazing week.
This was Butter at the start of the year being sassy and having a morning nap on our coffee table. This week she has spent it all laying on top of paper cranes that I put on the floor. It’s this thing she does because she hates them so much, she must crush them with her body weight. Photos of her and the cranes will be for next Friday’s post. I finally cleaned them up last night because I thought she could probably use a break from seeing her enemies all day long (I’ve been creating a paper crane mobile to hang above my desk and like being able to see all the designs). I don’t have much to add about my week as I’ve been working and playing a lot of video games. I did get a raise at my call center job which is nice because it means I will not have to stress about money as much. Oh and my amazing best friend sent me the most amazing late Christmas presents ever – lots of girly things and most important crazy leggings to wear and cat ears. Tonight is the 2nd night of Igloofest and the first night I am going, it’s this fun festival in Montreal where djs perform so we can dance in freezing temperatures. Going to be fun, hope you had an amazing week! Tomorrow I will doing my monthly DIY post so check back tomorrow for that.
Isn’t Butter adorable with her cat tie? I wish she didn’t loath wearing things around her neck because she looks adorable wearing it. It’s really my own fault for never training her to wear a collar, she actually enjoys wearing the ties way more than other festive collars I try putting on her. Lol. My cat is not a dress up cat. She refuses all things even this amazing unicorn horn that my friend Nicole bought her. It’s okay though I enjoy her sense of sass and not all cats are made for internet memes (nor should they be forced to be). These photos are from December, 2013 already feels a lifetime ago for me. So ready for 2014 – my first full week of it though was pretty uneventful. I mean its January in Montreal – most people are cuddling at home drinking warm drinks thinking warm thoughts or are in Mexico. Maybe this weekend I’ll leave my house? Maybe…
Over the last 12 months I’ve had my hair an array of various colors so I thought for the end of the year I would do a self-portrait retrospective on my hair. It’ll also helps me next year when I try and remember the colors I liked and ones that I badly wanted but in the end didn’t really love. The photos will be in order starting from January all the way to now and I am trying to mix it up and show you photos that I previously didn’t use so some of these will be hella casual. I’ll also be sharing what I liked or disliked about each look as well, this week I am doing January to June and next week will the last 6 months of the year.
I started off the year with an experiment to see what it would look like to have half and half hair because I have never done it before. I didn’t want to go too crazy at first so I decided to use two different shades of purple hair. The colors are Punky Purple and Punky Plum and both of them are disappointing which I already knew when I put them in but I had been given half full bottles of them for free (Punky’s purple colors are always wierdly pink). I really loved the half and half look even though the two shades were almost impossible to tell apart.
I wish that was my hair! Hahaha I bought a wig in January that is my dream hair color – lavender. For February after it started to fade I just added in more purple so it’s not that different from January’s look. This is my Valentines outfit with slightly curled hair.
I decided to keep the paler purple color in because it had faded to such a nice color and bleached the other half. After bleaching sometimes I don’t dye it right away, so I had blond and purple for a week.
Purple and turquoise!!! 3rd month in a row with half and half and half hair color, this time though one of my all time favourite hair colors Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise. I love these two colors together, I think they look so amazing together and I really want to do this color in the future. It looked so pretty when parted and my roots turned into this lovely purple blue color.
My purple and turquoise hair was starting to fade a lot in April although this shot it’s still quiet bright. I love this photo though since in February I bought a punch of different balls for my piercings and really started to play around with them and change them constantly. I love having them match the color of my hair.
So in the middle of April I was dying to change my hair color as the purple was really faded so I decided again to only bleach one color out and keep it the same style. This time I added in green to go with the turquoise. The color is Manic Panic Electric Lizard. Can you tell I love half and half hair color? It’s really fun, although I really want to do it when I have proper bangs as my side part really don’t do it justice.
My first time trying to do a barrel roll hair style like rockabilly girls wear. I loved it, and apperently completely forgot about it because I haven’t done it since. I love how the color just changes in the barrel roll from green to blue. Both of these colors look much better after they’ve mellowed out.
Started off the month with my super faded blue and green half and half hair and lots of roots. I was sad to see it go though because both colors fade to such a nice color but it was amazing while it lasted.
I knew that I wanted my hair to be super pale pale pink for the summer and for my friend’s wedding so I had to bleach out all of the color. Bleaching out all the color is hard job when you have various shades of dye in it because there is always an undertone that refuses to go (I usually never completely strip the color out and instead just put the new color in). So this was my first complete head bleach and you’ll notice it has plenty of green leftover but I kept it this color for awhile to let my poor hair recover.
This was taken after I had bleached my hair again to remove all the leftover dye. Haha I woke up the day after I had curled my hair with this mess and just loved how it looked so I took a photo. I kept my hair blond like this for the rest of June. Victor is always happy to see me with my natural hair color (although I haven’t been this blond since I was in elementary school my hair is naturally light blond) but I hate it. It’s just so boring and I can really only mange a week or two of blond but I just have to put in some color.
That’s it for January to June, see you next Sunday for July to December! :)
One of Butter’s spots for sleeping is on the chair in our breakfast nook (that we never use) and it just so happens to be right by the tree. I took these on Wednesday after taking photos of the tree and think she looks too adorable not to share. Such a peaceful face, I wish I was getting as much sleep as she was. lol. This week was not as busy as last week thankfully as I’ve managed to send all my Christmas cards and parcels to my friends. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree so I don’t have to worry about stepping into a mall and I saw the Hobbit on Tuesday (go see, it’s amazing). It’s been a pretty mellow week. I still haven’t had much chance to play around with the projector I bought as a Christmas present to myself but have started to scan my slides that came in the mail this week. I am SO excited about the slides and the projector. I wish I had a proper vacation over the holidays so I could get knee deep into both of my projects but I have to work up till Christmas Eve and only have two days off before back to work. I even work on New Year’s Eve, till midnight no less…. it will be nice though because it’s supposed to snow lots this weekend and I love when Montreal feels like a winter wonderland. I am hoping this weekend to go for a few walks in the snow and just get a little lost in it. Do you have any plans this weekend before the holidays start?
This week has been my Christmas crazy period and boy I am glad that I am done for the year. I am that person around holidays that is just in frantic mode of planning, baking, decorating…doesn’t matter what holiday either! I always like planning ahead though so I am done well before the holiday. I’ve been waiting around for a few presents to arrive in mail so I could wrap them up and get them sent, so it was a relief to have the last one arrive at the start of the week. I’ve also written and stickerized all my Christmas cards and postcards and sent them off so no more trips to the post office for me! All the presents for Victor and Butter are tucked into their stockings so I am all done and just have baking left. My list of recipes for the holidays is pretty long but I am going to do a few this week and then a few next week just to give myself a break.
Butter is in the holiday spirit as well. I was worried with it being the first time with a real tree in the house she’d attack it but she doesn’t seem to mind it at all…however that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been eating all the ribbons on presents (poor Butter keeps throwing it up too). The week has been really nice though, it even snowed a few days which a nice change to gloomy rain. After all the Christmas rush I just want a relaxing weekend of baking and sleep… I’ll be at a craft fair on Sunday though which will be really fun
(if you missed the post details here).
Hope your week has been good and that if you celebrate any holidays coming up hope you aren’t stress about being organized and getting stuff done. Have a great weekend!
Good afternoon! How are all of you doing this last week of November? Anyone else beside me excited for the upcoming Holiday season? I have been living off of 4 hours of sleep for the last two weeks and cannot wait for a much quieter and relaxed December. Plus all the decoration and baked goodies!! I have also been present shopping like mad for the last few weeks. Honestly having your best friend’s birthday a week before your boyfriend’s birthday in the same month of Christmas is just….unfair. I love giving perfect gifts, that perfect mix between what they really wanted, may not of realized they even wanted it, and useful…that’s my combination for presents. My little brother is the only one who gets a different combination; his is books and video games. Books because I think reading is the best education and video games because he’s a teenager and that’s all he wants. Butter already got her Christmas present and hasn’t used it once but I don’t want ruin it for you until she does. Butter by the way just decided to sit in my cube shelf and nap on top of art prints and she was just running all over my postcards that I am taking photos for my store…she’s very much in a “can I sleep on your stuff” mood this morning. I am glad she is off the postcards though because as soon as I finish writing this I have to finish taking photos and get them up onto my store. Below is her being cute on the kitchen counter from the day I repotted my garden.
Last week I showed you a Polaroid of Butter and the pumpkins and I realized I had a whole bunch taken around that time so I thought I’d share. She is still getting allowed to be outside but usually only very briefly, it’s been -1 almost all week so she’s much happier to curl up on our rugs. She loves coming out with me when it rains though – so curious even though she’d never dare go out in it. I still haven’t thrown out the carved pumpkins, I feel like throwing them off the edge of the balcony so they fall into the backyard and fertilize the ground but I don’t know if my neighbor’s would have the same opinion – lol. They are really rotten…I think I’ll do that tonight at like midnight so nobody sees me after I get back from the We Are Wolves concert. Speaking of that I am seeing my favourite band in the world tonight (they also happen to live in the same city as me which is pretty cool). I am really excited to go even though I haven’t been sleeping very much this week and am really excited to sleep in on Saturday. I will dance so much, and sing along…loudly and I am tempted to bring my camera so you may see some concert photos but if not I think I’ll just share some of my older photos of them anyways. My best friend Ana when I was in Vancouver gave me a Devo doll to give to Alex the singer as a little inside joke about the first time we meet him so that will be fun. I am just really excited for the weekend, what do you have planned?
I know I’ve had a long week of being sick when I completely forget about today’s post. lol. Sorry for those of you that had an unedited version earlier today (it’s fixed now). I love this photo of Butter with the Halloween pumpkins. She still runs to the back door anytime I have to slip outside to the shed or she thinks I might open the window. It was -10 here a few days back, so no more outside for her for a long time. I am hoping to buy her this hilarious window bed for Christmas so she can still look outside without having to sit in the window sill but until then she’ll have to pine away.
This week not much has been going on with me, I’ve been ill since Sunday morning. Still haven’t fully recovered but I think most of my strength has returned (just to stop getting headaches – that would be nice). I am working on a whole bunch of postcards that I will unveil at the start of December. Excited and nervous…and nervous again. Beside an art show I did a few years ago I never really show my work to people or sell my photography, it’s kind of my own private thing. This blog has been a really big step for me and still I am racked with nerves about the blog too don’t get me wrong but my blog is passive. You know what I mean? Like I pretend nobody reads it (and maybe not many people do) and that’s totally cool. It’s just a place to put my ideas and more casual photos sprinkled with my more artistic ones somewhere while I work on my craft and other projects. But having a shop and selling things, is different and I am not 100% sure I want to do it or confident I will sell anything but the idea of people having my postcards makes me happy, and having my photograph on postcards again – happy. So I hope it turns out, I’ve been deciding on what themes and sets to make for the last two days – hard work for me but I have to finish by Sunday so that’s my big goal. Beside that I am back at work now after being sick a few days so blah weekend work in the call center is never fun. I am looking forward to next weekend though and just got paid so I bought a new dress online so that will motivate me through this one. Hope you’ve had any amazing week in my place and if you any plans this weekend I hope they are awesome! :)
The last few moments of Fall are upon us (doesn’t that sound ominous and dark). Butter’s last few moments outside have passed by this week as I can only stand having the door open for 5 minutes before I get the chills. She is still dying to go outside as it’s been squirrel time in our backyard for the last two weeks and they have been driving her crazy. I actually have a video of her trying to chase one down for heaven’s sake. I even heard what a squirrel’s attack sound and it’s pretty hostile sounding. She’s been really good about listening to me when I tell her to stop but she always tries to chase them down the spiral staircase. I know what happens when she gets down a floor – whining about not know how to walk up the spiral staircase – silly kitty and I really wouldn’t want her to hurt a squirrel even if they do like to tease her. Not much else has been happening this week. I am going for Dim Sum for the first time ever on Sunday, going with a few co-workers, very excited. Hoping on Saturday to walk to Mont-Royal again like I did with Victor last weekend, it’s my goal to go there at least 1 more time in the next few weeks and enjoy the autumn trees. Hope you have a great weekend and enjoyed the first week of November!
Butter the giant cat. I do not take many double exposures of her but these ones always make me smile. The giant cat roaming the neighborhood at dusk… puts a big smile on my face. Sadly her behaviour has in the last 2 days went downhill again. It makes feel a little lost when things aren’t right with her. This week has made me feel a little lost even before the incident last night. Ever feel really down and just think months and months ahead and really stressing yourself out when all you need to think about is the next day, eat a good meal, go to bed on time? I’ve been like operating on no sleeping and bad eatting habits for a week and then worrying about things that don’t have any effect on today or tomorrow or even next week for that matter. I have work on the weekend but I am hoping to go for a nice walk on Saturday to the park and just take photos by myself and enjoy the cool breeze and the last moments of warmth before winter takes over Montreal. Take some time to myself and get outta the house, I’ve been working slowly on postcards for December of my photography and made some progress last night that was very encouraging. I feel like this mood shall pass but hopefully sooner than later. Hope you are well though.
Butter of the Week: Autumn
How has your week went? Butter has been eating leaves all week every time I let her outside. She’s did that all summer too and I still haven’t got around to researching why. Silly kitty. I can just feel the air in Montreal getting colder by the day so I’ve been letting her outside when I get home from work as much as possible so she can enjoy herself before it is too cold. She’s had a good week I think, and mine started good and relaxed and ended up exhausting. Regardless I have big plans for my weekend besides working tomorrow, like Indian food with Victor and taking some photos of my newly orange and red hair. Hopefully some apple picking on Sunday with Zara too, oh and getting a pumpkin would be amazing. Any big plans for yours?
The Return of Butter seems a little silly of a title but it’s been forever since she’s been featured on Friday. Isn’t she looking as pretty as ever with her lion mane? We’ve been having a great last few days hanging around the house with each other. She’s had so much energy just jumping and running around the house. We’ve been playing a lot to make sure her energy finds a good outlet. On Wednesday the weather was so nice I let her outside for a bit and of course she decided she wanted to go to the neighbor’s balcony and then climb down the spiral staircase to people downstairs balcony and then over again to the people right below us balcony…let’s just say when I came to usher her back inside I found a meowing kitty who was unwilling to move because she unsure how to get back home again. Typical cat behaviour *rolls eyes* I was a bit nervous because I haven’t been picking her up for the last few weeks due to her anxiety issues but beside squirming in my arms she was fine. I really think she’s made a lot of progress in the last week and she has days where it feels like everything is back to normal. I am so delighted! In other none Butter news it’s Thanksgiving this weekend in Canada! There will be posts as normal all weekend, I am just excited because I have from Saturday to Tuesday off and will have so much time to do things around the house and maybe even go apple picking. I have been really sleep deprived this week so it’ll be really fun. Keep an eye out because on Monday there will be a giveaway on my tumblr and blog.
On Tuesday, Butter Truck Tzara turned 6 years old! The story of how I got her is so random. My co-worker at the time was desperate to find homes for her cat’s unexpected babies (so unexpected she didn’t even know her cat was pregnant until she went to get her natured). At the time I said yes because I wanted to help her out but never really thought about getting a kitty before and then one night 2 months later she called me up and said she was driving over the kitty. Butter has been with me since she was a month old and it’s been true love ever since. Butter and I are two peas in a pod and I feel so lucky to have her. For her birthday I and Victor bought her tons of treats and a cat tree (which she loves) and she had a fancy meal on her special day. I thought I’d share for you some of her photos of her at 1 month old – she was just a scruffy ball of fluff but so cute. Hope you have a great weekend!
I’ve been saying it all week on the blog but I think part of me in still in summer mode. I am just realizing that soon leaving the house without a jacket will be a no go, or opening the back door so Butter can enjoy the balcony. In anticipation of the colder weather I think I will try and setup a few more photo shoots and try exploring Montreal a bit more on the weekends. So far I have plans to paint the bedroom. I am so excited. Me and Victor finally agreed on a color, Alice Blue – we actually painted our bedroom at one of our older houses that color. I want something a bit darker but the compromise is I get to paint the entrance peach/coral color which is fine by me. Besides painting though I am working on selecting photography for postcards I am going to be printing off. I cannot wait to show you guys the postcards once I get them, its tough deciding what makes it. This week has been great though and I am incubating a lot of ideas for upcoming months. Let me know how your week was, meanwhile check out Butter invading our neighbor’s balconies. Hope you have an amazing weekend!
Another interloper takes over Butter of the Week! This adorable guy is named Neelix and is my friend Jessica’s dog. He joined us at Trout Lake, Vancouver when I was doing a photo shoot with Jessica. I just had to take a few shots of him, he is too adorable. He reminds me of an old men in terms of look, but he is super energetic. He was very well behaved as well and not at all like smaller dogs (or at least my stereotypical opinion of them). I don’t know what Butter would think about me letting a dog take over her spot on my blog – she’s been super loving this week with us having been gone for 3 days to Prince Edward Island so maybe she’d be okay. Don’t worry though she will return next week so have no fear. As for my week, it was super long and the daunting idea of sorting through all the photography for my Prince Edward Island trip and my Vancouver trip is immense. I’ve decided I take too many photos. I think I should really have like a rule for the amount of time I can take photos of 1 subject. Hahaha. I have work on Saturday but after that I can enjoy the last two days of the Canadian long week. Hope you guys are having a great end of August yourself!
Butter of the Week is back! These were taken on the weekend in Butter’s hideout. I swear the vines on our balconey are out of control, they’ve almost swallowed the chair entirelly. It’s nice for Butter as there is 2 cats now that live in the apartments near us so she has a place to watch the other cats and of course for hunting birds. I thought I’d take a few shots before we have to trim the vines back for fall. Hope you’ve had a great week and if your lucky enough to get weekends off, enjoy! My week has been filled with anixety and I am really hoping this weekend it just really a realeases and I can enjoy myself. I am trying a new popsicle recipe (gin and tonic) and working on some cute DIY ideas. It will be a packed weekend and I’ll get to spend time with Victor after working evenings all week and missing him. Enjoy Butter’s hideout!
Wait that isn’t Butter! It’s actually my best friend Ana’s lovely cat Mishko! He is such a brat and spends his days sleeping on the coffee table as you can see. haven’t seen this guy in 2 years and he hasn’t changed a bit. He has the softest coat of all the cats I know, I don’t why Butter’s is not like this but he feels great. Ana’s parents actually got him a year after I got Butter because they loved hanging out with her so much and wanted their own kitty. I think the honeymoon is over though because he is one major brat now and just terrorize Ana. However we can enjoy his beauty at least. Haha, I think Butter could sense I was writing about another cat and leapt onto my lap and demanded cuddles. She has been ignoring me all day and now decides she wants company and sits on my computer – typical. Have a great weekend and Butter will return next week !
Today I am in Vancouver still and am very busy so I don’t really have much time to round up what I’ve been doing this week but I know one thing – I am missing Butter so much. So I thought today I’d update you on what some of the plants look now after a few months and of course my fluffy ball of Butter. The plants are loving being in the kitchen, although the vine is getting out of hand and soon I will have to find a shelf to put it on as its grown the floor and beyond. Butter seems no longer impressed to have to share her window space with a plant. Hope you have an amazing weekend. I am loving it here in Vancouver even though I feel like I’m running around a lot.
Today is my first day of vacation! I have the next 2 weeks off and will be visiting Vancouver from July 23rd to 31st. Don’t worry there will still be daily posts on the blog. I will be spending the next few days working on completing them so there will not be much mention about my trip but don’t worry when I come home I will have plenty to tell you and even more photography to share with you. I bought a lot of Fuji film for my Polaroid camera and will be taking lots of instant photos which is exciting and still haven’t narrowed down all the cameras I will be bringing but I think my suitcase will probably be filled with them. Look forward in August on Thursday for photoshoots taken from my trip. If you want to see daily photos of the trip, check out my Facebook or my 365 Tumblr!
This week was my birthday, which I celebrated in a very chill way at home with my boyfriend Victor and Butter. This photo was actually on my birthday of Butter enjoying the breeze coming from the window. There has been a heat wave in Montreal since the end of last week and it hasn’t been nice at all. So it’s nice that Butter has been able to enjoy a few days of colder weather. I’m lucky to have the weekend off as well, there are a few festivals I am hoping to check out with Victor but beyond that just relaxing and finishing up on some plans for Vancouver which is coming up really quickly. I am beyond excited for. I’ll leave you guys with Butter giving me a sassy look with her catnip toy.
Butter looks so adorable when she gives herself a bath, I am always trying to capture her with her tongue out for laughs. I have a collection of photos of her licking her nose because it just makes me squeal inside at how she cute she looks when she does. Last week while I was taking photos of the paper craft I made she decided to join me and give herself a bath sitting right in front me. It was the perfect lighting and I got some really cute shots so I thought I’d share. So here is far too many photos of her giving herself a bath. Hope you have a great weekend.
I’ve been going through my folders of Butter recently and thought I’d share some of my cat videos. I do not take them of her often but I’m starting to as its super handy with my Nikon being able to shoot HD video. This summer I hope to take more, she’s not a super active cat so I do not know how interesting they will be. Although I have a few videos of her high on cat nip that are hilarious. I liked these one because they were taken outside so the video looks nice and Butter is very weird when she tries to eat vines. She has since stopped now because I bought her cat grass and do not worry the vines are cat safe. Hope you have a great weekend!
Butter of the Week today is in theme with Vintage Tuesday`s Polaroid portrait shots. I’ve only taken a few shots of my cat with the Polaroid Colorpack as I don`t use the flash with the camera and Butter is an inside cat. I always crank the light setting but there is still not enough light for a really good shot but I love them none the less. It doesn`t help that she moves way too much, her eyes are always ghosts like which is freaky. I hope to grab a good one of her in the summer when she goes outside a bit more. Hope you like these, have a great weekend!
Not much new from me or Butter. She’s been enjoying the colder temperatures by cuddling more this week (she is currently sleeping curled up on top of my feet). Myself, I’ve had a very relaxing week enjoying the colder temperatures and just taking a bit of a break from working constantly. I usually put in 2 to 3 hours a day working on my blog and website and still have a full-time job so I felt really burnt out this week and just toke some time to myself. I slept in a little too much this week but am excited for next week and all the things to come.
It’s been a long time since I shared Holga Tim photos with your guys so I thought I’d share a few from my friend Nicole’s trip to Montreal a few years ago that I haven’t shared before. She’s so crazy and full of so much energy its always fun when you are around her (can’t you tell from the photos). These are just silly and fun but I wanted to share. I really need to take more photos with Tim this summer when I’m out with friends, its really fun to play around with. The last two I included because Butter is being super cute.
This week’s Butter is going to be a little weird. I toke these macro photos of her face back in March when I first got my Diana F+ camera. These were taken with the combination of my Nikon D7000 with Diana F+ lens and my Holga marco lens set. I think they are really neat, hope you like!
These shots were taken last week when Butter decided to come chill with me outside while I was taking some photos with my Anscoflex II and Kodak Dualflex camera. She really likes our new balcony and runs outside anytime we leave the back door open. Our balcony is attached to our neighbor’s with this plank style bridge and Butter tip toes across it so she can sniff their plants. Her favourite thing to do is stick her head through the railing and look at the back yard below. I’m hope to take her down there on a leash so she can start to explore more. :)
The first Friday off from the blog! It feels really nice and its been amazing weather here in Montreal so I’m enjoying my Friday outside (and working but at least my job offers the best in air conditioning). Butter and me have been spending every day outside for a few hours on the balcony. Our vines started to grow last weekend and already it feels like we have a garden. I want to start growing herbs in the kitchen or on the balcony so its great motivation. Apparently the vines mean a lots of spiders according to Victor which is not idle but at least Butter will have fun chasing them all summer long. It was a slow start but Spring is in full force here. Hope you have a great weekend!!
These shots were taken this morning with my newest vintage camera, Anscoflex II by Ansco. Its really cute art deco camera and is a metal pseudo TLR so you can take pictures of the viewfinder at the top instead of using film. Butter was nice enough to pose for me for a view shots in our living room and a few ones in the kitchen. I am so exited to take portraits with this camera, it has this nice hazy effect that works well for portrait photography. I just love the corners. Hope you are having a great Tuesday, here its all rain and clouds so me and Butter are just going to stay inside.
I felt this week needed cat pictures! Butter has been dying for Spring to come, every time we open the door she shoots out of it and sniffs at the air happily. Sadly it’s still -10 most days here so we cannot keep the door open for her, so she’s been bathing in the sunlight by sitting on the window sills most days.
These are all taken at my old house last week, our bedroom window had a stone sill on the outside for her to lay on and she could watch the all neighborhood go by from the 2nd floor. She did it all last summer, so it was nice before we left that it was warm enough for her to enjoy it one last time. The look in her face from the last photo is when she hears a weird sounds (usually its the sound of the camera).
So fluffy! I love her little fuzzy feet in the last shot, her long hair is really silky. I cannot wait for her to explore our new neighborhood and always find it nice when I can let her outside. We live on the 3rd floor now so we only have a balcony but it has a spiralling staircase that goes to a backyard, so maybe if she’s brave she can go exploring this summer.
