It has been forever since I last did a Things That Make Me Smile post, so it feels really good to do one this week and going through the last few weeks of my photos. I decided not to share anything from the beginning of July while I was on vacation in Vancouver because I will probably put that all together into one post in the future (fyi I get a lot of anxiety about trips so I usually don’t like to go through the photos until some time has past but I promise I will share more as the weeks go on).
The vines on my balcony grow so much during summer but this year it feels extra magical for some reason. Maybe because it reminds me of the Secret Garden, which was one of my favourite childhood books.
A gift of a vanilla candle in a tea cup given to me by my lovely friend Pang.
This watermelon instax film of Hamicat, actually all the Hamicat instax film is priceless.
The artwork of the metro station near my house is always amazing but this year’s flora creature theme is strange and wonder and any time it catches my eye I grin.
A day at the beach playing Exploding Kittens!
The Sailor Moon figurine I bought while in Vancouver from a comic book store. I am way too much of a cheapass to appreciate the mystery of a blind box figurine but luckily I got the one I wanted the most with just one box.
Since me and Victor arrived back in Vancouver we’ve been obsessed with the idea of Japanese candy since we ate so much while there. We finally got around to checking out to see if our local stores had the same candy and we found a bunch of new stuff and a few of the same.
An original piece from Starchild Stela, and her newest zine.
My beyond cute birthday present that I got from my friend Nicole while visiting Vancouver. You know those presents that you get that you love but it’s something you would never have thought of yourself – this book is totally that. She also got me a million and one rolls of tape in different patterns.
My collection of summer sandals. I honestly hadn’t bought a pair of shoes in a year and then went crazy in July and bought 5 pairs on sale. My favourite pair is the sandals with the black and white stripes mixed with the flower pattern, so cute. Also check out my first ever platforms, they are amazing but I think I over estimated my ability to walk in them.
My tower of chocolate Lucky Charms, from the past weekend when Pride was happening and there were lots of freebies being handed out in the Village.
Trying a new ice cream for the first time, the name alone made me buy it.
Changed up how my front window looked (maybe after a few of the new plants started to die).
Lastly, I smile every time I see the K+V outside of my apartment on the pavement especially when taking photos of me and Victor’s new shoes. I know it’s very juvenile to scrap your name into wet cement but after 6 months of continuous building outside of my window every day while the city ripped up the road I didn’t really care.
