Pick of the Week: Defective Pudding

defective pudding (5)Pick of the Week: Defective Pudding

This week’s pick is artist Defective Pudding, a call out to Halloween which has past but is not forgotten (may it lives on in our hearts year around). She offers a lot on her store from original illustrations, prints, zines, brooches and more. I found out about her through Dark Town Sally’s Instagram and fell in love. What really drew me into her work was the spectacular illustrations she was doing for Inktober, so much detail and atmosphere, they feel like stills from a classic cartoon. The three originals I ended up purchasing are beyond perfect and I am just so enamoured with them. I may have also bought one of each of her zines (although I think I’m missing one which I don’t know how I missed that). My favourite out of the lot is Tuffet which is darling and reminds me of ‘The Gashlycrumb Tinies’ by Edward Gorey. All the zines are well executed and the quality of them is superb (I complain about paper quality too much on my blog so just know I approve). She was also super cute and sent along with all her Halloween orders a bunch of trick or treat bags, such a great surprise. I am going to get good use out of my sticky bug slinger she gave me, lol. Below I have a ton of photos of what I picked so you can have a closer look and you can check out more of her artwork on Instagram!

November Treasures

november treasures (2)

My November Treasures are a bit all over the place, from a comic to stickers, mermaids to aliens, it’s kind of a cross section of various things I enjoy. My favourite shop for this month is Baku Forest Studios which makes incredible necklaces that are so detailed and interesting, very different from what you typically see on Etsy. I also love the Enid paper doll even though I am not a fan of Ghost World (I feel like I am the only person who just didn’t get into that movie). Not to mention the UFO bookends by KnobCreek Metal arts – a perfect gift for Victor for Christmas but I feel like he wouldn’t be happy if I told him how much they are. Let me know what your favourites are or any recommendations you have.

Pick of the Week: Mab Graves

Pick of the Week: Mab Graves

This week’s pick is artist Mab Graves’ Etsy store which is filled with all kinds of wonderful and whimsical goodies.  She sells prints, cards,  and more but what I love the most is her paper dolls. Her artwork and paper dolls are heavy influenced by Blythe dolls (which I love) and have this cute vibe with a sinister twist. It’s an amazing combination and I’m so happy to have picked up some of her work. I like collecting interesting paper dolls so I picked up her paper doll book which was so much larger and better quality than I expected. It was published by Dover Books so it’s the quality you’d expect of any commercial paper dolls book. My only compliment which I usually make about paper doll books is that you have to cut them out ourselves (also there is not cutting guide) but the paper is sturdy and the pages are single sided which is great. There is just so much variety with the various dolls, animal companions and outfits – it’s like having paper Blythe dolls with extra whimsy. Love them so much. I also picked up a few of her cards to give to friends and perhaps to use as mini prints and they are great quality as well. Each came with a pink envelope and I also got a free card and bookmark with my purchase which was very nice. I have a few detail photos of the items below and if you want to check out her main website, click here!

Pick of the Week: Needlings

needlings dollPick of the Week: Needlings

This week’s pick is the fun and colorful company Needlings run by Hamilton artist Heather Saunders. She makes cute and colorful plush creatures by hand and I happened to run across her creations while on vacation in Toronto. I just had to pick one up for myself and one for my best friend (mine is the green one because it reminded me of Invader Zim). I always enjoy homemade plushies for some reason and hers are really darling. She also runs a super cute website/blog that you can check out as well. I like to just have mine hang out by my record player, photo below!

Pick of the Week: Love Teacup Kisses

love teacup kisses (1)Pick of the Week: Love Teacup Kisses

This week’s pick is the adorable Etsy store Love Teacup Kisses by illustrator Avo. She sells prints, stickers, brooches, original artwork and more of her adorable illustrations. I just love her artwork. It’s light, fun and super cute. It was impossible for me to resist the stickers with all the colorful hair happening and amazing fashion. I also picked up an original artwork because that “Fuck Off” jacket and hair do just screamed me (she does portraits as well that are really well done – if I wasn’t scared of getting mine done I would in a heartbeat).  She was also super kind and sent me some extra monster stickers with the original – and they are amazing. It’s a great store and she puts a lot of care into each package.  If you want to know more about Avo, she has an adorable blog and posts videos of her process on Youtube that you can check out!

Hello!! I am an illustrator with a love of super cute stuff! I blog mostly about art, life and some of my vintage adventures. I run my own online art stores [x][x] where I sell prints of my illustrations, original art, jewelry, handmade items and more. I love making new friends so feel free to say hi!

Pick of the Week: Beauxoxo

Pick of the Week: Beauxoxo

This week’s pick is the UK store Beauxoxo which specializes in homemade hair accessories like headbands, turbans, bows and plenty of other hair accessories. I just love this shop and all the accessoires are hand made by the owner Gerogie. For summer I knew I had to have some new accessories to wear with all my summer dress so I picked up a turban, flower crown and a wire headband to try out. Her store has a huge selection so if you don’t like my color combinations or fabric picks – trust me she has a design you’d love. The best thing about her store is that you can request a custom size, which for me is amazing because I have a little bit of a big head and I also get headaches if things press against my head too much so this really sold me.  Even with the custom size request I was surprised with how quickly I recieved everything and the amount of care put into it. Mine came in a huge box so there was no way my crown was getting smushed in transit. For the actually accessories themselves I thought overall that each piece was worth the price and really well made. The wire headband is actually exactly like the one I bought from Mod Cloth maybe even better since the wire is a bit stiffer so it holds its shape better.  The fabric also looked exactly like it did online. I am really happy with the fabric turban as well. My only disappointment really was the flower crown, the leaf ribbon detail in photos looked much better than it does in person. The ribbon just comes off as very cheap and very shiny, it’s really stands out on an otherwise beautiful flower crown. It’s hard to tell when wearing it in photos though or unless you are looking at it close up so I don’t mind too much. Honestly I’m so pleased with my 3 pieces and just know I’ll buy from Beauxoxo again. Check the store out, it’s so easy to customize a perfect summer outfit with one of her accessories!

Pick of the Week: The Tiny Hobo

This week’s pick is the cute shop The Tiny Hobo which specializes in brooches, and other jewelry. They have a good selection of adorable jewellery that is perfect for the summer and super affordable. Like the cute cactus brooches that I picked up from them which are just beyond awesome. I’ve been wearing mine for weeks now anytime I go out and they are the perfect accessory for the summer I think. Plus I am terrible at actually keeping cactus so at least these don’t need to be watered, lol. Check them out!

Pick of the Week: LoLL3

Pick of the Week: LoLL3

This week’s pick is the illustrator Loll3 from Italy who has an adorable Etsy store with tons of stickers, brooches and other goodies as well as a Society6 store. Her artwork is super eye catching and has a lot of occult symbolism in it. I enjoy her color pallet the most as I’m a sucker for hot pink and other vibrant colors. I picked from her Etsy store some of her stickers (which are much larger than I thought) and some cards that I thought I could use as mini prints. As well from her Society6 page I bought a mug for a friend and a large print for my art wall. My favourite item for sure beside the print is the cards, they are so cute and I love how she accessorised the card’s envelopes with tiny artwork on the lip. She also has postcards, which if you follow this blog you know postcards are my weakness. I really love all the items and it’s worth checking out both of her stores. You can also check out her tumblr for a closer look at her artwork or updates on future sales.

Pick of the Week: Boojiboo

Pick of the Week: Boojiboo

This week’s pick is retro and vintage aprongs by Etsy’s store Boojiboo. I found them a few months ago when I was looking to pick up a cute apron for baking. Yes, yes I know aprons are super easy to sew yourself but I don’t own a sewing machine and secondly I have no idea where to find cute fabric. That’s actually why Boojiboo stood out to me when I was looking on Etsy, the fabric. They have some really unique fabrics that have a vintage feel to them that I love. They also have a huge selection and great prices. Another thing I noticed is that every few months or so they have different fabric so there are always fresh choices. One of my favourites got scooped up and hasn’t come back yet so make sure if you see something you like to scoop it up. My hearts apron was my second choice but I love it and it’s really well made. Wanted to share with you guys!
